For naturists who enjoy living nude lives for any length of time there are many great advantages to being nude. Many feel that baring everything is telling the world that you are comfortable with who you are, that you don't mind the whole world, well other naturists, seeing who you really are.
Nude beaches and nude resorts offer naturists this opportunity to love their life as themselves not wrapped up in clothes and the accoutrements of the twenty first century. There is no need to sell yourself to the world when you are nude as you are not displaying anything more or less about yourself than simply what you look like. Being comfortable completely nude is something that many people in the aesthetically orientated world we live in today find very difficult.
Naturists show tremendous courage and self-confidence in being able to display their bare selves without the layers of protection that clothes offer. Clothes provide a veneer and the more clothes that a person wears the more they become like other people. In winter when everybody is wearing dark coats and hats the world is filled with similar looking people struggling to express their individuality.
In 1984 by George Orwell one method of controlling the people is to ensure they all wear the same dismal clothes to help put down feelings of individuality and to maintain the community feel. Clothes change a person from what they really are into something that society can judge in its own way. The clothes a person wears define the person in the eyes of the majority of the population whereas a naturist can bask in the individuality of his or her own body.
